Legal status and tax information
Art To Be Seen is a nonprofit corporation incorporated in the District of Columbia. Our Employer Identification Number is 42-4110148. We have not yet been recognized by the IRS as a tax-exempt organization, and contributions to Art To Be Seen are not tax-deductible. We are not currently soliciting charitable contributions. If and when our application for exemption is approved, we will update this page and say so plainly.
Fiscal sponsorship
Art To Be Seen is pursuing fiscal sponsorship. Until a fiscal sponsorship agreement is signed, we do not name a sponsor, and we do not accept charitable contributions through one. When an agreement is executed, we will publish the sponsor's name, its tax status, and the terms under which gifts are received and restricted.
Governance
Art To Be Seen is led by Alex Grant, founder and executive director. We are in the process of seating a board of directors. District of Columbia law requires a minimum of three directors, and we will not describe ourselves as having a board until three directors are seated. As each director is elected, we will publish that person's name and a short biography here.
Financials
Art To Be Seen has not yet completed a fiscal year. We will publish our first annual report and our first IRS Form 990 for the first full fiscal year in which we operate, and every year after that. Until then, we will report funds received and funds spent on this page.
Accessibility Statement

OUR COMMITMENT
Art To Be Seen exists to make sure artists who have been overlooked are seen. That principle applies to this website. We want everyone to be able to read about our work, learn about the artists we commission, and get in touch with us, whatever technology they use to do it. Accessibility is part of the mission, not a box we're checking.
CONFORMANCE STATUS
We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at Level AA, published by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C).
We're partially conformant. That means some content doesn't fully meet the standard yet. The gaps we know about are listed below, along with what we're doing about them.

KNOWN LIMITATIONS
Some images on this site are currently without alternative text. We're writing a description for each one.
We'd rather tell people what doesn't work than claim a standard we haven't met.
WHAT WE ARE DOING ABOUT IT
Writing alternative text for every image on the site.
Adding artist credit lines, so images carry attribution as well as description.
Reviewing colour contrast and heading order across every page.
Checking that every page can be navigated with a keyboard alone.
Testing with a screen reader.
Asking artists and community members who use assistive technology to tell us what they hit.
Reviewing the site at least once a year.
COMPATIBILITY
This site is designed to work with current versions of Chrome, Safari, Firefox, and Edge, on both desktop and mobile, and with common screen readers including NVDA, JAWS, and VoiceOver.
It may not work well with very old browsers.
FEEDBACK AND HOW TO REACH US
We welcome reports. Tell us if something doesn't work for you. Email alexgrant@arttobeseen.org and put "Accessibility" in the subject line.
If you need information from this site in another format, ask and we'll provide it.
HOW THIS STATEMENT WAS PREPARED
We prepared this statement by self-evaluation against the WCAG 2.2 checkpoints, and by testing with keyboard navigation and screen readers. [DATE]

YOUR CHOICES AND RIGHTS
Every email we send has an unsubscribe link. You can also ask us to see, correct, or delete your information, or ask us to stop processing it. Email alexgrant@arttobeseen.org and tell us what you need.
We'll respond within 45 days. We may need to confirm who you are before we act on a request. We won't treat you differently for asking, and we won't hold back anything you'd otherwise get from us.
State privacy rights
Residents of California and a growing number of other states have specific rights to know, delete, correct, and opt out. We'll honor those requests from anyone who makes them, no matter where you live. If our answer doesn't resolve things, reply to it and we'll treat that as an appeal.
CHILDREN'S PRIVACY
This site isn't directed to children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect information from them. If you think a child has given us information, email us and we'll delete it.
SECURITY
We take reasonable measures to protect information. We use encrypted connections, and we limit who can get into the email list to staff who need it for their work.
No method of transmission or storage is completely secure. We can't promise perfect security, and we'd rather say that plainly.
LINKS TO OTHER SITES
We link to other organizations. Their privacy practices are their own, and we don't control them. This policy covers arttobeseen.org only.
